Luciano Spalletti could barely contain his delight after witnessing his Napoli side triumph at Allianz Stadium and edge even closer to clinching the title.
“The joy we feel is immense,” the coach admitted in the wake of Sunday's 1-0 victory.
"It's another big brick to add to all the others we've laid on our quest for victory. When you win like this – scoring with your last attack – the joy is multiplied. But we must wait before celebrating. We'll keep the champagne on ice until the time is right.
"I congratulated the team in the dressing room. When you get knocked out of the Champions League, you get thoughts and moments that aren't easy to get over. The emotional aftermath can drag you down. But we did brilliantly to get going again and win the match today."
Asked about his own merit in Napoli's success, Spalletti replied: "Everyone deserves credit because when you share the credit, you multiply the joy. Putting yourself in a position to win the Scudetto is reward for all the sacrifices made. I've come a long way and I've suffered at times. Now I'm happy to be the coach of this splendid team.”
