It was smiles all round at the Maradona on Sunday as title-winners Napoli played and won their first game as champions in front of an adoring home crowd. Coach Luciano Spalletti enjoyed this momentous occasion. “It wasn’t easy to beat tough opponents like Fiorentina today. We won in our own way by playing the style of football we enjoy.
“The team continue to show that they have the character and mentality of a great side. It took a lot of hard work to achieve what we have and to complete this incredible journey. What we’ve accomplished in this incredible Scudetto is huge.”
When asked whether he already had his eye on the future for Napoli, the coach shared that he is always looking to move forward positively. “We always need to keep learning because if we lose our curiosity for knowledge, we’ll get nowhere. There are always better ways to do things. We just have to be able to spot them. I never stop because there are lots of great, young coaches out there, with Vincenzo Italiano a perfect example.
“We’ll talk about what comes next at the end of the season. We’ve still got more games to play and I want to give space to everyone because we have an exceptional squad of players both on and off the pitch.”
