Luciano Spalletti has told his team to ignore all the plaudits and keep focusing on the job as it remains early days in the Scudetto race.
The boss was speaking after his side overcame Empoli 2-0 to record a tenth consecutive Serie A victory and temporarily move eight points clear at the top of the table.
"We know very well what prospects we have and what our dreams are, and these three points help us move forward, but there are seven other contenders for the title and nothing has changed,” Spalletti noted.
“There will be plenty of pitfalls for every team between now and the end. We must keep on our toes and stay focused – which we did against Empoli today.
“My players are doing their absolute all to achieve the ambition we have as a team, not as individuals.
“We have to take all the praise with a pinch of salt because often people lift you up and then wait for you to fall. It's nice that some people genuinely believe we're playing excellent football but we mustn't let that affect us. There's still a very long way to go.”
“When I say that being on the bench has the same value as starting the game, it's because I know how much this squad has got to offer. Today was a perfect demonstration of that. When you're playing back-to-back games all the time you have to make the most of all your resources and we're doing that superbly.”
Do you fear the World Cup could break up your rhythm?
“No, I don't think so. The break is the same for everyone. It's not a break only for us. The best thing we can do is understand how to make it work to our advantage and keep working calmly. We believe in our ability and we'll try to keep playing to the best of it.”
