Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw against Mallorca in their pre-season friendly on Sunday evening. Coach Luciano Spalletti reflected on his side’s performance. “That’s just how it went. It wasn’t easy to shine in a tough match like this one.
“Some things went better than others. If you’re not aggressive enough in these kinds of games, you find yourself in trouble.
“Mallorca had a clear game plan. They disrupted our rhythm, sometimes using quite rough tactics, and it’s not easy to find your foothold again when it’s like that.
“We played well for an hour, but we need to keep up the pace in the second half. We have to improve, but we’re in the preparation phase at the moment.”
He also reflected on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s performance and Kim Min-jae’s debut:
“Kvara demonstrated his talent. He’s a player who knows how to make a difference and he needs to develop like the rest of the team.
“Kim is a great player. He showed that he’s got it all: physicality, speed, quick reactions and technical ability. He is a complete defender.”
