The boss addresses the media on the eve of the Italian Super Cup final

Find out what Antonio Conte had to say as he looked forward to the chance to lift a trophy against Bologna in Riyadh on Monday.

“We’ve got our first objective of the season in front of us and we really want to win the Super Cup.

“The league match against Bologna wasn’t a positive one for us and they deserved to win. After that game, we reviewed our tactical set-up and looked for new solutions, trying to get back on track with confidence and enthusiasm by analysing various aspects in a calm way. We managed to do that by going on a run of five consecutive wins.

“The team is in good physical condition and when you reach a final, there’s a new energy and a strong push to try to achieve your objective. The squad is preparing for the match in the best possible way and the lads are all working with intensity together, regardless of who starts the game.

“The Super Cup is a prestigious target and when you manage to win it, it goes down in history. Bologna are opponents who’ve deserved to be here, but we’ve got the same level of motivation to give everything. I want to congratulate Vincenzo Italiano because, like me, he’s come through the ranks, he’s worked hard and is now reaping the rewards of his efforts.

“We shouldn’t forget that we’re coming off an extraordinary Scudetto success and that often gets taken for granted. I’ve always said this season would be more complex because it’ll take time and patience to help the new arrivals adapt to being part of a team with the Scudetto badge on our shirt.

“I think we’re currently where we should be in the league, up at the top. Now we’ve got the chance to put a trophy in the cabinet and we’ll try to do it with all the strength that we can muster.”
