Pierluigi Gollini expressed his joy after making his Napoli debut against Atalanta. The 27-year-old was brought into the starting line-up when Alex Meret had to withdraw with a wrist problem during the warm-up.
"I guess it was my destiny to make my debut against my former club,” he began.
"Fate stepped in but as soon as I was out there I put the emotions to one side and focused solely on the match.
"I'm lucky to play for this Napoli team because we have such an amazing group of lads. Everyone gives everything on the training pitch and there's so much quality here too.
“What I liked most was when we all hugged together in the centre circle before kick-off and our captain said to me: 'Gollo, we have complete confidence in you.' His words meant a lot to me and I want to thank Giovanni [Di Lorenzo] and the rest of the team for believing in me.”
