The fans in Val di Sole enjoyed an evening with the champions and all things Napoli on Saturday as the 2023/24 Azzurri squad appeared on stage in the main square in Dimaro Folgarida amid raucous cheers.
Rudi Garcia was the first to greet the thousands of supporters gathered in in Trentino.
“Ever since I arrived, I've been amazed by how much joy you fans have. Thanks for your passion and constant support for the team.”
After the coaching and medical staff, the team came forward, from back to front: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.
As they stepped up, the stars of last season's Scudetto each had their name screamed out by the square.
Aurelio De Laurentiis and Edoardo De Laurentiis then took the Scudetto trophy onto the stage.
“I want to thank our supporters for coming here to honour Napoli and this shirt, which is our and your skin,” the president said.
“We're working hard for you and today we renewed the contract of our captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, until 2029. You'll see more contract extensions in the coming days.
“Thanks to Rudi Garcia we're building a competitive team. After our Castel di Sangro training camp, I'll be able to tell you what targets we can aim for this season.”
Di Lorenzo then expressed his joy.
“I'm grateful for this recognition – it means a lot to me. I thank the president and my team-mates, because without them I would never have achieved what I have. I want to thank you fans too for the love and passion you give us every day.”
The evening ended with the skipper raising the Scudetto trophy aloft to the tune of We are the Champions as a party atmosphere and the tricolour lit up Dimaro.
