Here's what Antonio Conte had to say:
“Today we focused only on ourselves and we tried to give our all to win the match. We dominated for over an hour against a good Roma side keen to make amends. After the goal we should’ve been more clinical but instead we gave them chances.
“It wasn’t an easy game, partly because we started fourth in the league. However, the lads showed character and knew how to dictate the game for large stretches.
“Our aim is to up our game and improve our performances gradually. We need to learn how to better manage games and not take risks like we did in the final quarter of an hour today. However, I’m very happy with how the team played overall.”
Romelu Lukaku, who scored the winner, expressed his joy:
“Scoring felt amazing because I broke the deadlock in a big game. I’m happy for the fans who really cheered us on.
“These three points are huge for our development and for our season. We need to keep on working hard and looking forward. It’s not the time to talk about our league position and objectives – we need to keep on improving and take this team as far as it can go.”
