Napoli's eyes remain firmly on the Scudetto prize despite their Coppa Italia exit, says Victor Osimhen.
The striker was speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss two days after the Azzurri went out of the cup on penalties to Cremonese and less than a week since the stunning 5-1 victory over Juventus.
“We want to achieve great things and we need our fans behind because the support they give us is incredible,” the Nigerian stressed.
“We're sorry to go out of the Coppa Italia but in football sometimes games don't go your way. We must look forward now and give our all in Serie A.”
Looking back to last Friday's match at the Maradona, how did it feel to score two against Juventus?
"It was an amazing evening with a stupendous atmosphere – the perfect backdrop. We played so well and we're happy especially for our fans who filled the stadium and got behind us all game long. Seeing the Neapolitans' joy makes me happy.”
Next up is the Campania derby against Salernitana.
“It's going to be another very difficult match but we want to win it to maintain our position at the top of the league.”
Do you feel like a leader of this Napoli team?
“I'm happy to be part of this group. I'm not the leader but we do have lots of important players with big personalities. Personally I think I can do a lot more than I've managed up until now but I couldn't do anything without my team-mates.”
How much is Spalletti helping?
"Spalletti is a massive help to me. He watches me closely every day and I follow his advice. He's helping me become a better footballer in every area. We have a great relationship.”
Napoli are already the winter champions. Do you feel you can win the title?
“Winning the title has been our target since the start of the season but we're focusing on one game at a time. Right now we're concentrating on Salernitana. Afterwards we'll look at our other fixtures.”
