Despite the scoreline remaining goalless both Lazio and visitors Napoli did everything they could to win the game, right until the final whistle.
Napoli were without some important players but were solid throughout, although chances were few and far between. Sunday’s match also saw Cyril Ngonge and Leander Dendoncker make their bows for the Azzurri.
Walter Mazzarri’s men will now dust themselves down and prepare to face Verona at the Maradona next weekend. The month of February – with the return of the Champions League and crucial Serie A fixtures – is getting ever closer.
