Luciano Spalletti was hard pushed to find fault with his team after they put Monza to the sword in their first game of the season at the Stadio Maradona.
“It was an excellent performance,” he admitted after the 4-0 triumph. “We showed our strength while maintaining great balance at the same time.
“There's no arguing with the result yet it wasn't easy to come out on top like that. We were nearly always in control of proceedings and squandered lots of chances early on.
“We were up against a solid outfit who know what they want to do. I think they'll have a good season. We kept the ball for long spells but we do need to finish off moves better at certain times of the game.”
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia notched two more goals to add to his debut strike against last week and Spalletti noted that the young Georgian has plenty of promise.
“He's a talented player who can perform at an even higher level. He gets really up for games and often he has too much pressure on him. I can assure you that once he's settled into Italian football he will achieve big things. He's a top player and his ability will become clear over time.”
